Malai Peda is an Indian sweet that is made on special occasions or festivals. Sometimes we Indians also used Peda for Bhog to god. Peda is a popular sweet of any sweet shop of India. Peda is a traditional sweet that is made up of milk, they simmer the milk until it turns solid we called it Khoya (Mawa). Khoya is the main ingredient of Peda. They add some sugar, cardamom powder in Khoya. But nowadays a lot of people are replacing khoya (mawa) with condensed milk or milk powder that didn’t give that natural milk flavor.
But here I am going to share the Malai Peda recipe that you can easily make at home. This Peda is made up of Fresh Malai (Cream). This Malai Peda recipe gives a natural flavor of milk that is really delicious and soothing. The taste of this Peda is Rabri kind of flavor. If you are a big fan of milk-related desserts like Rice Kheer (Rice Pudding), Rabri, Milk Cake then this Malai Peda recipe is heaven to you.
Malai Peda Recipe is an easy recipe but it takes time to cook but it really worth the time. In this recipe, you can also make Pure Desi Ghee along with this Peda Recipe. As we know Desi Ghee is one of the healthiest ghee that gives energy that’s why we Punjabi love to eat Desi Ghee De Paranthe in breakfast.
This Blog post is all about Malai Peda, if we talk about Desi Ghee, it is just a by-product of Malai Peda. For making this Malai Peda all you need is Fresh Malai (milk cream). Here I am using fresh malai. Make sure Malai is not sour or not old for more than a week.

Malai Peda Recipe
Ingredients
- Fresh Malai (Milk Cream)
- 1 tbsp Wheat Flour
- 1½ cup Milk
- Some Kesar threads (Saffron)
- Sugar (as per taste)
Instructions
- Take Fresh Malai in the vessel (Kadai) and add wheat flour in the Malai. Stir continously make sure there are no lumps.
- Stir in small intervals around 35 minutes.
- After that you can notice ghee in Malai.
- Keep Stiring after 35 minutes malai wheat flour mixture turns little brown and the amount of Desi Ghee is increased.
- Then strain all desi ghee in steel container.
- Now add 1 cup of milk in that mixture. Stir it.
- Now add Kesar (Saffron) in it. Mix it well.
- When it turns brown then add sugar in it.
- Stir it in small intervals until the milk in the mixture is completely dry that means it's done.
- Now take it out in plate let it cool.
- When it's cooldown then take small part of mixture in the palm make small flat balls. Garnish it with chopped almonds.
- Finally Malai Peda is ready.
How To Make Malai Peda Recipe Step By Step With Photos:
- Take Fresh Malai in the vessel (Kadai) and add wheat flour in the Malai. Stir continuously make sure there are no lumps.

- Keep Stirring malai and wheat flour mixture until it turns out little brown in color and you start seeing the Desi Ghee.
- Then strain all desi ghee in a steel container.
- Now add 1 cup of milk in that mixture. Stir it.
- Now add Kesar (Saffron) in it. Stir it continuously.
- When the mixture turns brown in color, add sugar in it.
- Stir it in small intervals until the milk is completely absorbed in the mixture which means it’s done.
- Now take it out in plate let it cool in room temperature.
- When it’s cooldown then take a small part of the mixture in the palm make small flat balls. Garnish it with chopped almonds. Finally, Malai Peda is ready to eat. The main specialty of this recipe is that you can also make Pure Desi Ghee along with this Malai Peda. You should also use that ghee in cooking. But you should not use that Ghee when you have fast (Vrat) because we are adding wheat flour in it. I am showing the exact quantity of Ghee in the picture below.
