Veg Manchurian is an Indo-Chinese Cuisine. Manchurian is served in almost every Indian restaurant and also a portion of popular street food. Personally, whenever I think about starter or appetizer first thing that comes to my mind is Veg Manchurian. This tasty delicious recipe is one of the main appetizers in birthday parties, reception parties or any party.


There are different types of Manchurian like Gravy Manchurian, Dry Manchurian, even Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Manchurian, that are also made in India. Veg Manchurian is basically a vegetable fried balls coated with spicy sauce. In Veg Manchurian, any vegetable you can add but capsicum and spring onions give the amazing flavor in it.

Here I am using Cabbage, Capsicum and spring onions in the Manchurian balls. You can also add a carrot in it. Manchurian is a simple and quick recipe but, the main question that arises by everyone is, ‘How can we finely chopped veggies for Manchurian’. Because in the Veg Manchurian we need very finely chopped veggies.

For chopping, you can use a food processor or handy plastic chopper, if you don’t have both then don’t worry, you can also chop with the help of a knife but make sure that you chop it very fine. If you don’t chop fine vegetables, you will find it hard to make Manchurian balls.

For making a Manchurian ball, add maida, cornflour, salt, and black pepper in the chopped vegetables and combine it properly. Then make balls of this mixture with the help of your palm, you can easily make balls of this mixture. Now deep fry it. Your Manchurian Balls is ready now.

Once Manchurian balls are ready, Now its time to make gravy of Manchurian. The Gravy of Manchurian depends on if you want to serve Manchurian as a main course or as starter or snack. But here I am going to share a Veg Manchurian recipe as a Snack/Appetizer/starter.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Manchurian Balls

  • 1 cup Finely chopped Cabbage
  • ½ cup Finely Chopped Capsicum
  • ½ cup Finely Chopped Spring Onions
  • 2 tbsp Maida
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour
  • ½ tbsp Black Pepper
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil (for deep frying)

Ingredients for Gravy of Manchurian Balls

  • tbsp oil
  • ½ tbsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 Diced Onion
  • ½ cup Chopped Capsicum
  • tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Kitchen king Masala (optional)
  • 1 tsp Black Peppar

Instructions

Method of making Veg Manchurian Balls

  • Firstly, finely chopped cabbage, capsicum, and spring onions in a food processor or in the Plastic handy chopper.
  • Now, add 2 tbsp of Maida (all-purpose flour), 1 tbsp of cornflour, ½ tbsp of black pepper, and salt as per taste.
  • Combine them well and make a thick dough-like consistency.
  • Then take a small portion of the mixture in your hand and make small balls of this mixture.
  • When all balls are ready then kept aside in a plate.
  • Heat a pan and add oil (as required for deep frying).
  • Then add veg balls in the pan and deep fry it.
  • Once all veg balls get deep fry then keep aside in a separate plate.

Method of making gravy for Manchurian Balls

  • Heat a pan, add 1½ tbsp of oil.
  • Add ½ tbsp of Garlic paste, 1 chopped spring onion. Mix it.
  • Now, add ½ cup roughly chopped capsicum and 1 chopped cabbage in the pan.
  • Mix it well. then add 1½ tbsp of tomato ketchup and 1 tbsp of soy sauce and other masalas in it.
  • Mix it well, and add cornflour in seperate bowl and mix it with water and add it in a pan.
  • Now, add Manchurian Balls in the gravy.
  • Stir it until the gravy of Manchurian gets thick. and veg balls completely observe in the gravy.
  • Veg Manchurian is now ready to serve.

Notes:

  • Always add cornflour in minimum quantity otherwise, your Manchurian balls become hard.
  • You can also use cornflour in Manchurian gravy that gives little thickness in gravy.
