How to make a Rava Appe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rava, Sooji, Semolina
  • ½ cup Yogurt (curd)
  • ½ tbsp Eno (fruit Salt)
  • Chopped Cabbage
  • ½ Finely chopped Capsicum
  • 1 tbsp Chopped carrot
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Tomato
  • ½ Chopped Onion
  • ½ tbsp salt (as per taste)
  • ½ tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder (Dhania Powder)

Instructions

Instruction for Appe Recipe

  • Take 1 cup of Sooji (Rava) and add 1 tbsp of salt, ½ tbsp of chili powder, 1 tbsp of coriander powder in it.
  • Add yogurt in Sooji (Rava) mix it well.
  • Now add 1 cup of water depending upon the consistency of the batter and make little thick consistency batter.
  • Then add Cabbage, chopped capsicum, chopped tomato, chopped carrot, chopped onion in the batter. Any vegetable you can add in the batter.
  • Cover it and keep aside until Rava absorbs water.
  • Heat Appe pan and grease with oil.
  • Add ½ tbsp of Eno (Fruit Salt) in the batter. Mix it.
  • Immediately Pour batter with the help of a spoon in each cavity.
  • Then, lower the flame of the pan and cover the lid and let the Appe cook in steam for 4-5 minutes.
  • After 4-5 minutes flip each appe another side then cover the lid.
  • When both sides turn golden brown then appe is kept aside in a plate.

Tempering of Appe (optional)

  • Heat another pan and add oil to the pan.
  • Now add Mustard seeds and fresh curry leaves in the pan.
  • When the mustard seed is crackle and curry leaves are fried then add cooked Appe in a pan. Mix it well.
  • This tempering process is totally optional but this enhances the taste of Appe.
