Sev Puri is a popular Indian snack that is originated in Maharastra. Originating in Mumbai-Pune, Sev Poori was the most famous street food but, now it is quite a popular snack in all over India. In India, every state has different tastes and flavors. So, on the basis of this, the topping of chaats can be changed according to the taste and preferences of people of that state.
In the northern side of India, Sev Puri is also called Bharve-Golgappe. Some used gol-gappe while some used papdi or (you can say that Puri for making this chaat). Sev Poori is a kind of chaat that is like a Bhelpuri. But the main base of sev poori is ‘Puri’ and that puri is loaded with mashed potato, chopped onions, tomatoes, and some chutneys, spices, and sev. Sev Poori is loved by almost every age group of people.
Personally, Sev Puri and Aloo Tikki is my favorite chaat. Sev Puri chaat has a sweet, tangy flavor that one bite gives a blast of flavor in your mouth. You can feel every flavor that adds in one bite. Whenever I eat Sev Puri from the market, I always want to try this Sev Puri Recipe by myself. So, finally, I try it and I loved it.
Here I am also going to share the recipe of Papdi or Puri. It is so easy to make and assemble. For making Sev Puri all you need is mashed boiled potatoes, finely chopped onions, tomatoes, sweet chutney, spicy Chutney, chaat masala, bhuna jeera (roasted cumin seeds), black salt, and Sev. You can also change the topping of Sev Puri according to your preferences.

Ingredients
Ingredients for Papdi (Puri)
- 1 cup Maida (All Purpose flour)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt (as required)
- Pinch of Ajwain
Ingredients for Assembling Sev Puri
- 10-15 Papdi (Puri)
- Boiled Mash Potato
- Sweet Chutney (Tamarind Chutney)
- Spicy Chutney
- Bhuna Jeera (Roasted Cumin Seeds)
- salt
- Finely Chopped Onions
- Finely Chopped Green Chilli (optional)
- Chopped Tomatoes
- Nylon Sev
- Chaat Masala
- Black Peppar
Instructions
How To Make Papdi (Puri)
- Firstly, you have to prepare a thick dough of maida or (All-Purpose Flour).
- Then make small balls of dough and roll it in the flat surface with the help of belan.
- Then cut it with help of small katori.
- When it's done, then make hole in the raw papdi with help of fork. That hole help in making papdis otherwise your papdis turns golgappe.
- Heat enough oil in the pan for frying.
- Now, add papdis in the pan. Deep fry it.
- Cool it down at room temperature. It makes papdi more crispy.
- Now, Papdis is ready for assembling.
How To Assemble Sev Puri Chaat
- Take 7-8 Papdi in plate and add mashed boil potatoes on it.
- Then add chutneys on top of it. You can also add green chutney on it.
- After that, sprinkle salt, bhuna jeera powder (roasted cumin seeds) and chaat masala.
- Sprinkle finely chopped onions, tomatoes and green chilli on it.
- Lastly add Sev top of it.
- Simple and quick Sev Puri Chaat is now ready to serve.
How To Make Sev Puri Chaat Step By Step With Photos
How To Make Papdi (Puri):
- Firstly, you have to prepare a thick dough of maida or (All-Purpose Flour). Take 1 cup of Maida, add 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, pinch of ajwain, salt (as required) and 3-4 tbsp of water in it, kneed it and prepare thick dough.

- Now add Tamarind Chutney on top of it.
- Also, squeeze half a lemon on it.
- After that, sprinkle Black salt, Black peppar, jeera powder (roasted cumin seeds) and chaat masala.
- Sprinkle finely chopped onions, Tomatoes, and green chili on it.
- Lastly, add Sev top of it. Simple and quick Sev Puri Chaat is now ready to serve.
