Aloo Tikki Chaat is the most loved snack in India. It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t like Aloo Tikki Chaat. You can easily find stalls of Aloo Tikki Chaat in Indian Market along with this chaat, Dahi Bhalla, Gol Gappe, Sev Puri is also available on these stalls. These stalls are the most popular stalls of Indian Bazaars. Whenever I go to the market with my mother or friend we always prefer to eat Aloo Tikki Chaat with Pani Puri after shopping.
This delicious crispy Aloo Tikki Chaat is served with a topping of Curd, Finely chopped onions, Green Chutney, sev, Tamarind Chutney, pomegranate, beetroot juliennes, paneer cubes, Raisin(Kishmish) and some street style Indian masalas. There is no authentic way to make Aloo Tikki Chaat. You can modify topping as per your taste. Some people like Cholle (Chickpea) on top of the Aloo Tikki and some like Dahi (Curd) on it. Topping can be changed according to taste and choice.
Aloo Tikki is basically a fried potato patty that you can make easily at home. There are a lot of varieties of Tikki available like stuffed Aloo Tikki, Dahi (curd) Aloo Tikki, Chole (Chickpeas) Aloo Tikki, even Aloo Tikki Burger, Aloo Tikki Wrap is also available in Cafes and restaurants of India.
Here I am going to share a simple healthy snack recipe of aloo Tikki. For making crispy Aloo Tikki you should add 1 to 2 spoon of cornstarch or soaked bread in the boiled potato. This will makes Tikki crispy and also help in making round Tikki patty. The assembling of Aloo Tikki is super easy that can be done in a few minutes with Dahi (Curd) and some spices.

Aloo Tikki Chaat Recipe
Ingredients
Ingredients for Aloo Tikki
- 5-6 Boiled Potato
- 1½ tbsp Corn Starch
- 1 tbsp Salt (as required)
- ½ tbsp Black pepper
Ingredients for assembling of Aloo Tikki Chaat
- 1 cup Curd (Dahi)
- 1 tbsp Green Chutney
- 1 tbsp Tamarind Chutney or tomato ketchup
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of red chilli powder
- pinch of chaat masala
- Pinch of Roasted Cumin Seeds powder
- Handful Pomegranate
- 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Onions
Instructions
Method of making Aloo Tikki
- Firstly, peel and mash the boiled potato with the help of a steal masher or with hands.
- Add 1½ tbsp of Corn starch. This will help in giving the perfect shape of Tikki or patty otherwise it hard to give perfect shape in boiled Aloo (Potatoes).
- Then add 1 tbsp of salt (as per taste) and ½ tbsp of black pepper.
- Mix it well with the help of your hands.
- After that, make a medium size ball of this mixture, flatten them and make a Tikki or patties.
- When it has done then heat a pan and apply a bit of oil and place Tikki or patties on the pan.
- Shallow fry it for 10-20 minutes on low medium flame. The low flame makes Tikki or Patties more crispy and delicious.
- When it turns golden brown that means it's done.
Aloo Tikki Recipe -Step by Step With Photos:

- When it turns golden brown that means it’s done.
- Now, it’s time to assemble all the ingredients that we are going to use in the Aloo Tikki Chaat.
Firstly, spread plain curd (Dahi), 1 tbsp of Green chutney, and 1 tbsp of Tamarind chutney on top of the crispy Aloo Tikki. Then sprinkled a pinch of all spices or masalas (you can see all masalas in a column of ingredients), finely chopped onions, and a handful of pomegranate on the Chaat. Delicious and super easy crispy Aloo Tikki Chaat is now ready to serve.
Notes:
- You can replace tamarind chutney with tomato ketchup or any other chutney you like.
- You can also use bread in place of corn starch in Aloo Tikki.
- You can also deep fry the Aloo Tikki but here I just shallow fried it. You should always shallow fry it on low-medium flame. It makes Aloo Tikki more crispy and delicious.
- When assembling is done then serve it immediately otherwise Aloo Tikki becomes soggy which affects the taste of Chaat.
